JCPenny Stafford Low Rise Bikini Review

Underwear Guy Review: JCPenny Stafford Low Rise Bikini Briefs
Designer/Manufacturer: Stafford Underwear
Website: www.jcpenny.com
Price: $15.00 3-Pack

Stafford is an exclusive brand of JCPenny men’s underwear offered in a broad range of classic white briefs, bikinis and boxer briefs. For this review I am covering the Stafford Comfort Low Rise Bikinis sold in a package of 3 in a variety of solids and prints. The  fabric is a blend of 95% Cotton and 5% spandex that has a decent amount of stretch although it is not quite a soft as the Sears Covington bikini briefs. Despite being called “low rise” these bikinis are actually closer to a full-rise brief in design. The brief has a 3-piece designed front that creates a decent shape out of the material in double-layer thickness material. The manufacturing and fabric blend information is included on the inside back of the bikini using a heat-sealed tag-less label to help reduce any friction from a standard tag. Similar to the Convington bikinis, these Staffords employ a larger cut to the back which is not as flattering or well-designed as higher-end underwear lines. Overall sizing specifications are good and these bikinis fit true-to-size in the medium range.

The Grades:
Fit: B+ Not bad overall but the cut isn’t perfect for a bikini with more material and a higher rise that belies the low-rise label.
Design: A- Not too much to the design although the 3-panel front adds some uniqueness to the brief and the range of colors and prints offer a good number of choices.
Material: A-

The cotton is decently comfortable although it could be a little softer and allow for more stretch.

Construction: A-

Some of the flat seams in the front are sewn a little haphazardly with threads that run slightly crooked, but general construction quality is good.

Overall Grade: B+

Not a bad option overall if you’re looking for an affordable underwear option in a bikini cut although I would recommend you take a look at the Sears Covington bikinis before buying this brand.

Would I buy another pair? Without another reference point I would say yes especially compared to Jockey Elance bikinis, but compared to the Covingtons which are a more faithful bikini cut I would not buy another package of these Staffords.
