At under $2.00 per brief, these Target exclusive brand Merona bikinis qualify as rock-bottom bargain price underwear. These 100% cotton bikinis have an exposed waistband with sewn-in tag in the back. The overall sizing is fairly accurate as a medium although the cut of the fabric is more befitting a “large” despite the waistband which is clearly a 32-34 “medium” inch waist. Of the 3 affordable underwear brands reviewed (see Convington and Stafford reviews) these Merona bikinis are the most ill-fitting with way to much material in both the front and back which doesn’t create the most flattering of outlines. The front of the bikini doesn’t have too much shape to it but it is double-layered and has a center seam to allow for some extra room in front. The cotton fabric is relatively thin and makes for a good warm-weather bikini although over time these may wear out in subsequent laundry washes.

The Grades:

Fit:	C	Although not uncomfortable, the overall fit isn’t the best due to the extra fabric that tends to bunch up in between the legs.
Design:	C+	Basic string bikini design that doesn’t break new ground. The Merona line underwear isn’t offered the most exciting range of colors or prints so lower scores are a result.
Material:	B	The cotton is ok but it isn’t as soft as it could be and the lack of spandex doesn’t help overall shape memory.
Construction:	B-	Overall quality is not too bad but one of the bikinis in the 5-pack had some poorly sewn seams at the waistband.
Overall Grade:	C+	You will get basic functionality as underwear in these bikinis but for a little more money you can find better options out there.
Would I buy another pair? No, these string bikinis are not flattering, the colors are boring and the fit is poorly designed. If you’re willing to spend more money I highly recommend you look at Unico sport briefs.
