Hanes String Bikini Review

Underwear Guy Review: Hanes String Bikini
Designer/Manufacturer: Hanes Underwear
Website:  www.hanes.com
Price: $17.95 4-pack

My last Hanes underwear review was for the bikini briefs which were a solid hit and I decided to pick up the string bikini style from the same texture fabric line and see if the underwear could be consistently good from style to style. These bikinis are made from the same “Textures” fabric as the full-cut bikinis which is an interesting mesh-type cotton material that is thin but comfortable and provides enough stretch to support and shape well. There are a variety of nicely muted colors and patterns that provide a sense of style without going over the top. Just like the bikini briefs, these string bikinis fit true to size and are a good fit in my normal medium range. The front of the briefs does not have a specific pouch design but there is enough room and shape provided in the pattern cut to not feel like you are being “flattened” up front. One of the big problems I’ve discovered with previous department store brands is the odd cut of the materials in the back with far too much vertical coverage but that’s not an issue with Hanes where the cut and rise are just right. There is a white Hanes text logo printed in the front of the waistband although I have also seen these with the slightly nicer looking red-fabric logo as well but in both cases it’s a nicely subtle design touch. The manufacturer’s information is accomplished with a fused tag on the inside of the waistband in the back making for a tagless brief that doesn’t irritate.

The Grades:

Fit: A These string bikinis fit very well with a cut that flatters and supports appropriately without feeling too tight.
Design: A Again, I give high marks for the innovative fabric blend and I appreciate the color and pattern selection which is masculine and nicely understated.
Material: A

The “Textures” fabric is a nice concept that works very well for the summer when it’s important to not feel overheated.

Construction: A

All the briefs in the package of 4 were equally well-made and did not exhibit any construction flaws.

Overall Grade: A

Another excellent buy from Hanes underwear, I’m pleased to discover that the bikini briefs were not a one-hit wonder and that these string bikinis are also a good recommendation for every-day wear.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, I would definitely buy another package of these briefs. At the very affordable price point of $4.50 per pair you get some nice design touches, a good fit and an innovative fabric blend - one can’t ask for much of anything more in a pair of underwear in my opinion.

I bought a pack of Hanes string bikinis a year ago and have been very pleased with them. I've worn the Jockey strings, and it seems tight in the front. The Hanes version fits very comfortably in the front and are great for everyday wear and for the gym. Wal-Mart is the only store I've seen that carries this version of Hanes underwear. You can check with several online retailers, but it's going to be cheaper at Wal-Mart.

Your review is spot on! I've gone through a lot of different high priced brands to try and find a comfortable, all day fit and these Hanes "strings" are it. I have a similar build to the model above with minimal space between my thighs (no room for bulky excess fabric). I used to wear Mansilk briefs, but their longevity for every day use isn't great for the money. I only hope that Hanes keeps making them! They could probably sell more if they dropped the word "string" and replaced it with something like "athletic" or "active" cut.
