Life Sculptured Pouch Trunk Review

Underwear Guy Review: Jockey Life Sculptured Pouch Trunk

The department store brand reviews continue with a feature on the Sculptured Pouch Trunk from Life Underwear. For those of you who may not already know, Life underwear is a special Wal-Mart exclusive brand manufactured by Jockey Underwear. Interestingly the styles and designs for the two brands are often very different and there is little cross-over between the two. Most Life underwear is now sold in single-packs around the $8-10 range. There are a variety of bikinis, briefs and trunks available in both cotton and microfiber fabric blends. Joining the underwear “pouch revolution”, Life introduced a new range of shaped underwear a while back that they call the Sculptured Pouch line which is available in cotton and microfiber versions. This review covers the microfiber Trunk which is available in a range of solid colors including but not limited to gray, blue and red. Life underwear generally runs true to size with these mediums working quite well for myself. The microfiber material is comfortable with a decent amount of stretch in a shiny almost silk-like finish. The waistband could probably be a bit softer in the weave of the material but it serves its purpose well and doesn’t feel too tight. The pouch in front is well-designed with just the right amount of room to not feel confined but not so much that you don’t feel the necessary support of a brief. Unlike a lot of other department store brands these Life trunks have a well-designed cut that doesn’t ride up on the hips or back so the design deserves good marks for accurately fitting the parameters of what a trunk should be. There isn’t any specific branding or logo on the waistband which is kind of nice for a change.

The Grades:
Fit: A A good fit with just the right amounts of material in the front and back with a waist and leg cut that does not bind.
Design: A- Although the color selections are a bit on the boring side they are decently fashionable and the pouch design is excellent.
Material: A

The microfiber has a decent amount of stretch-memory to it so the design will hold it’s shape throughout a day of wearing.

Construction: A

This trunk had solid construction quality with not errant threads or uneven seams.

Overall Grade: A

A nice surprise that these are a very solid pouch trunk at an affordable price.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, I found these to be a very competitive entry in the pouch underwear category at a relatively low price and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another pair.

Life used to be my favorite brand of underwear. Life briefs had lots of room! However, they have redesigned them and I find that the fit is all wrong now. Not to mention that I no longer have full coverage in the front. Does anyone know where I can find cheep underwear for the well-endowed individual that is not binding?

I love the microfiber seamless style and noticed the last two I bought are softer and not as sung which I feel in love with the original. I wish they made them in a longer leg version as well but then I would end up buying another 12 or so...

You should do a review on the Life Sculptured Pouch Brief. The trunks are comfortable but I don't know how well the briefs will feel.
