Jockey Sport Low Rise Brief Review

Underwear Guy Review: Jockey Sport Low Rise Brief
Designer/Manufacturer: Jockey Underwear
Website: http://www.jockey.com

Price: $19.50 2-pack

Jockey Underwear is an interesting company in that they have as many hits in their products as they do misses. As my previous review of the Jockey Elance Bikini details, I didn’t much care for the material or fit of that garment. On the other hand, there have been some great hits with the Life Underwear reviews also made by Jockey including the Sculptured Pouch Trunk and the Euro Trunk. For this review I decided to take another test drive of a Jockey product with the Low Rise Brief from the Jockey Sport collection. These briefs come in a 2-pack for the very reasonable price of $19.50. The underwear line is composed of a 100% cotton blend fabric in a medium weight available in just the basic colors of gray, black and white. The size ranges are accurate as these mediums fit well without any tightness or loose areas in the front or back. The waistband is particularly comfortable as it is made from the same material as the rest of the brief with elastic sewn inside so you have a mostly seamless effect. The front pouch on these briefs won’t win any awards for lift or design but it does a good job of keeping things comfortable and feels supportive. The garment wash and wear information is printed on the interior of the waistband and does tend to wear off after a wash or two which is fine with me over a scratchy sewn tag. The only major design element is the jockey logo sewn in the outside front of the waistband which provides some nice detailing without over-advertising the brand name.

The Grades:
Fit: A Excellent fit, great for every-day wear and sport activities as well, no binding or riding up to report.
Design: B Nothing innovative in the colors and there aren’t and truly creative ideas here but I won’t let this category weigh as heavily in the overall grade.
Material: A-

I think a little spandex would have helped to give the fabric a little more definition and comfort but overall the 100% cotton blend works very well.

Construction: A

Jockey almost always does an excellent job on construction and these briefs reflect that standard with excellent seams, clean pattern cuts and no loose threads.

Overall Grade: A-

These are an excellent choice in the affordable briefs category although a few alternative color choices would be nice.

Would I buy another pair? Yes I would absolutely buy another pair. The price can’t be beat and the overall fit and comfort on these low-rise briefs is excellent.
