Calvin Klein Body Hip Brief Review
Underwear Guy Review: Calvin Klein Body Hip Brief
Designer/Manufacturer: Calvin Klein

Price: $15.00

For a little bit on the background on the CK Body Line check
out my previous review of the Thong style. This review features the Hip Brief
style of the Body line which is a minimalist low-cut brief with 1” sides (below
the waistband). The waistband is 1 ½” wide with signature Calvin Klein logo
text woven around in a repeating pattern in gray which contrasts nicely against
the white elastic. Depending on the season Calvin Klein has made the Hip Brief
style available in a variety of colors including bright orange, olive green,
brick red, navy blue, light blue and other colors although I have yet to see
the Body line in patterns. The fit is mostly true-to-size with these mediums fitting
a 32-34” waist although-as with the thong-I found that CK Body smalls in the
hip brief style fit well as well. I would leave it up to you what kind of fit
you’d like ranging between more snug or a little more room. The interior of the
waistband is basic without any of the nicer brushed microfiber treatment found
on other premium underwear but it’s nothing to complain about regardless. The
leg bands are elastic with double-stitched cotton folded over at about ¼”
thickness. The fabric is 100% cotton with a fine vertical ribbing that allows
for a decent level of stretch and maintains good breathability. The cotton is
very durable although a slight bit of softness is sacrificed for durability.
I’ve owned a lot of the Body briefs over the years and they maintain their fit
and quality through many washes so I’m happy with the overall longevity and
construction precision. The front pouch of the Body line is fairly aggressive
with a lifting and shaping result that is noticeable without being
constricting. The pouch is double-layer fabric with a flat-stitched seam
running down the center and on the sides at an angle. The base of the brief at
the bottom of the pouch is fairly minimal spanning just 2 ½” at the narrowest
point. This allows for good freedom of movement making them great briefs for
every-day wear as well as sports activities.
| Fit: | A+ | These hip briefs along with the C-in2 no show briefs are part of my regular every-day selection based on their comfort and durability. |
| Design: | B+/A- | Back when the Body line was introduced the design was unique but now the standards have been raised and I think some adjustments in the waistband wouldn’t hurt to improve the design score. |
| Material: | A | As I’ve said before the cotton is very nice and holds up well over time. |
| Construction: | A+ | One aspect that I have never been disappointed on with Calvin Klein underwear is the construction quality. These hip briefs exhibit excellent attention to detail with very clean seams and excellent stitching all-around. |
| Overall Grade: | A | For regular underwear that has a good pouch design and a nicely
minimalist cut these hip briefs are hard to beat.
|
| Would I buy another pair? Yes, I own several pairs of these hip briefs in other colors and it never hurts to add a few more to the collection. | ||
