I saw this Priape brief at Undergear a while back and thought it was an interesting combination of material and design and finally purchased it recently (along with a lot of other undergear items). PriapeWear is a Canadian underwear label with a line of swimwear and underwear available in a variety of cuts including thongs, bikini briefs, briefs and squarecuts. This Itcha bikini brief is available in 3 color choices including white, black and a light dusty blue color (covered in this review). The design of this bikini is unique in that it has cutouts in the sides that are about 1 ¼” tall X 3” wide. The back is still full coverage however so the cutouts don’t affect the fit or function of the bikini in any way. For those of you who like measurement details the back of the bikini is about 12” across and 1 ¼” tall at the sides (including the piping material). The front panel is 9” across at the top and about 3 ½” in the middle-area of the pouch that extends 8” (from waist to the seam at the base of the pouch). The contrast black piping is uniform on all the edges and is about 1/2” in width. The waistband is also comprised of the same ½” black material and fits comfortably the stated size range for a medium. The wash/care tag in the back is a bit large for a bikini brief at 1 ½” tall by 1 ¼” wide and the material is a plastic-paper material that doesn’t exactly shout high-quality. The rise in the front of the bikini is very low so be aware that with the tighter than normal pouch you’ll find these offer minimal coverage. The material of these bikinis is a tissue-paper thin 95% polyester 5% spandex blend that is very stretchy but also very revealing. Given the thinness of the material and the fact that the front pouch is only single-layer material you will probably want to be careful where you wear these if you don’t want to be too revealing. I would say these definitely fall into the special-occasion wear underwear than every-day wear category.

The Grades:

Fit:	B+/A-	The pouch could have been a bit less tight but the stretch of the fabric helps to compensate for the design issue.
Design:	A	I like the minimal simplicity of the design combined with the creativity of the cutouts and contrast piping so a solid score for the design category.
Material:	B+	I liked the feel of the material which is soft and the slight sheen to the finish is a nice effect but the thinness is definitely something to be worried about. I doubt these will hold up through too many wash and wear cycles.
Construction:	A+	Excellent construction is exhibited throughout with very neat seams and very clean stitching. I like how they found ways to hide some of the seams and joins within the design of the cutouts to improve the sleek look of the bikini.
Overall Grade:	B+/A-	This is a tough one to call since I like the concept but am a little concerned about giving a broad recommendation. I would say if you are looking for an all-day wear bikini brief you should skip this item but if you’re looking for a special occasion, once-in-a-while design that is unique then these could fit the bill nicely.
Would I buy another pair? I would consider another pair in a different color so the answer is yes, I would buy another pair.
