Kyle Underwear is a house brand from Skiviez.com, the well-known online underwear store that carries a broad range of men’s underwear. Kyle underwear originally started with a line of fly-front thongs and jock-straps and branched out with briefs and boxer briefs. The second wave of Kyle Underwear switched it up with bright colors in yellow, blue, red and green offered in a variety of combinations with bright-white contrast piping on the leg-bands and fly front. I bought this brief several months back and shot the photos for the review but never got to the written article until now. All of the newer color Kyle Underwear includes a functional fly-front and 1 ½” waistband which is very strong and has a nice texturized interior for softness. The elastic of the waistband is fairly stiff with a limited amount of stretch so make sure to order your size accurately. These mediums were OK on the waistband for a 32”-34” but the other areas like the legs and front were fairly tight overall especially if you factor in inevitable shrinkage of the 100% cotton material so it’s a mixed bag on the fit. The cotton material is finely ribbed and seems high-quality with a medium weight and very saturated and bright coloring but there’s very limited stretch to it which is probably what contributes to the tightness exhibited in the overall fit. On the front of the waistband is a small Kyle underwear logo tag that is sewn flat in front which is a nice design element. The backside of these briefs isn’t quite full coverage and is maybe a ½” “briefer” than a standard cut not unlike some of the 2Xist low rise no show briefs. The front of this low rise brief has a dual-layer fly-front pouch that fits a bit awkwardly. For some reason the pouch is slung low and further back between the legs than normal and it tends to be uncomfortable in my experience. Overall the front has a “mashing” feel to it that results in a tight fit that you are very much aware of while wearing the underwear. Ideally underwear in a brief form will be supportive and shaping on the pouch but you also won’t be overly aware of it. I’ve found wearing the C-In2 briefs and the 2Xist briefs is generally an “effortless” experience but on the other side of the spectrum these Kyle briefs don’t let you forget that you’ve got something on.

The Grades:
Fit: B- I wasn’t impressed with the fit on these briefs because it was off in a lot of ways. I’d say too tight in the wrong places and a real need to work on the pouch design are what lowered the fit score.
Design: A Despite issues in the other categories I really liked the design choices made here with the subtle color striping on the waistband, the bright primary colors and white piping are all very nice design choices.
Material: B+

I think the weight and quality of the cotton material is very good but I feel that the limited amount of stretch is what is contributing to bring the fit score come down.

Construction: A

Nothing to mark down on construction as these briefs are very well-made with good seams and nice attention to detail on the stitching.

Overall Grade: B

Unfortunately there were enough weaknesses here to prevent an “A” score in the overall category. I’m giving a lot of credit for the design and construction qualities which compensate to some degree for the other shortcomings.

Would I buy another pair? No, I doubt it. As much as I like fashionable underwear items I feel they should still be comfortable to wear and I don’t relish the thought of wearing these briefs for 8 hours a day.

on target review; tried these once and had same feelings exactly. You should not be aware of what you are (under-)wearing!
