Pulse Underwear continues to release a whole new line of designs every month in a variety of cuts ranging from trunks, squarecuts to briefs. Each month is a totally new combination of materials, colors and prints aligned around a specific theme. I’ve kept up with each month for myself but I haven’t been able to always highlight them in reviews since the product cycle out so quickly. The basic pattern cuts are usually similar from month to month so hopefully this review will be relevant beyond the month of December. The briefs featured in this review are one of 3 brief cuts available each with variations of the black and white 95% cotton 5% lycra blend fabric. On top of the fabric is a printed snowflake pattern in white or black (depending on the design). Another design element typical for Pulse underwear is derived from contrast stitching which in December’s line is black on white. The waistbands on these briefs are slimmer at just under 1” and are covered by the material in front but exposed on the inside which is thankfully nicely texturized for softness. The Pulse Underwear tag in the back interior of the waistband is a little bit under-produced in that it’s a heat-fused paper tag that doesn’t necessarily seem high-quality but it does have the advantage of being completely flat against the material and thus undetectable to the wearer. The overall cuts and fits of Pulse underwear run true-to-size with these briefs in a medium working well for myself. The fabric being a cotton lycra blend has a nice amount of stretch to it while still returning to its original shape and form. The material is medium weight with enough thickness that even though these are single-layer in front you won’t feel over-exposed. The black fabric-covered elastic leg bands are very thin at ¼” but they do their job well without feeling too tight or binding since they have a lot of stretch in them. The slimmest part of these briefs on the sides narrows to about 2 ¾” (including waistband) so this cut comes just short of being a bikini. The single-layer pouch front is very comfortable and is well-designed with enough room but still providing good support and shaping suitable for all-day wear.

The Grades:
Fit: A Pulse Underwear always seems to work out well in the fit category and I liked the overall coverage from the front to back as well as the pouch design which was great.
Design: A The underwear of the month concept is great since you get to see new items all the time and for December I think the white and black concept works out very nicely.
Material: A

I like the overall feel of the cotton blend as it provides a lot of stretch but is also capable of providing support as well.

Construction: A

There were some minor extra threads that needed to be trimmed but overall the construction quality was very good with straight stitching and clean seams.

Overall Grade: A

If you like a little variety and theme to your underwear then I don’t think you can go wrong with Pulse Underwear’s December briefs.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, and in fact I bought several of the other items in the Pulse December range. You can read the review of the one of the trunk designs on the site as well.
