A Peek Inside My Underwear...Drawers
A Peek Inside My Underwear...Drawers
So many choices and not enough days in the year to wear them.
A while back blog reader William had asked me how many pairs of underwear I owned and I didn't have an immediate answer then-and I still don't have an answer now-but today I thought I'd give you a peek inside at least the top 3 drawers of my underwear collection. I do like to keep most things organized and when you have a lot of pairs of underwear it's helpful to be able to find things if they are folded and grouped by certain categories. I included some approximate counts under each label/category and there's of course plenty more not shown here...maybe some future post will include the other drawers.
My top drawer shown here is composed of underwear that's more of the specialty variety that I don't necessarily wear all that often. These are often the more expensive items including ones from Gregg Homme, Oboy and Pulse Underwear/Benjamin Blak.

The second drawer is much more the regular every-day wear trunks and briefs that I like including a lot of CK Body and C-In2 underwear. More often than not my choice of underwear for all-day and at-work wearing is going to be one of the C-In2 briefs.

Here in the third drawer down I've consolidated many of the other foreign-brand lines that I have including quite a few from Unico/XXX. The "Other" category includes several pairs of Papi, Impetus and AutoEstima underwear. Not counted but behind the AussieBum section are several pairs of Ian Thorpe underwear which are also Australian designed and made. The Japan collection includes several pairs from Dugas and Toot underwear.

If I add up the total from these top 3 drawers it looks like we're getting close to 270 or so pairs. There's of course plenty more in the other drawers as well including items from N2N Bodywear, Undergear, California Muscle and Male Power so I'm sure I could go a full year without ever wearing the same pair of underwear twice. Well, thanks for reading along for this little mini-tour of my underwear drawers and if you'd like to share your collection feel free to send photos via the regular contact e-mail. If you'd like participate on the blog you can answer for the Blog Poll below and let everyone know how many pairs of underwear you own!

Impressive underwear drawers... makes my collection of 45 boxers + briefs seem paltry! BTW how long has it taken to build-up such a large collection?

Hi Kevin, thanks for the comments! I would say that the larger selection of the fashion-oriented underwear that I own mostly comes from the last 6 years. Although there was a decent selection of men’s fashion underwear prior to 2000 it wasn’t until recently that there were so many men’s underwear lines, designers and styles to purchase and it seems like that trend is only going to continue. It’s an exciting time to be tracking the underwear industry!

Hi Men's Underwear Guy-- Do you care to elaborate on why you wear C-in2 briefs more often than not, when you have such a vast collection to choose from? Are they that much better than the rest, or is it just simpler to choose from those than your entire collection, or something else?

Hi Daniel I appreciate the question. So it’s pretty simple really, I love C-In2 no-show briefs for their fit and durability that holds up very well throughout the course of the day. I also like the colors and patterns they have produced over the last few years as well since it can be fun knowing you are wearing a somewhat colorful and wild pattern underneath your work outfit. I suppose some of it is just personal preference and a level of brand-loyalty since I know there are many other very good styles and manufacturers out there. I do often like the freedom of movement from a brief over a trunk style which is why I prefer the no-show cut. One thing I would highlight is the waistband design of C-In2 underwear which has a very solid level of construction and thick, microfiber texturizing on the interior which feels great. A lot of the underwear I own isn’t because I necessarily believe I’ll be wearing it on a regular basis but is instead for the benefit of conducting a review on this site. I realize that many readers may be curious about a different cut or manufacturer that is outside of my regular wearing choices so I’m happy to extend my knowledge and try different underwear items out.

So how many of those would you actually say you wear on any kind of regular basis? It looks as if quite a few of those are just out of the box.

Hi Sebastian thanks for commenting! With so much underwear to wear it’s true that I don’t get into all of them too frequently but I always try to mix things up as often as possible. It’s just like my reviews divide up underwear for certain activities, I like to switch up what I’m wearing throughout the day so that gives me a chance to wear other styles as often as possible. As I’ve mentioned in the past, my favorites for at-work are still the C-In2 no-show briefs in patterns and colors. Best regards.

Hey underwear guy...I didn't see any silk boxers reviewed on here. My friend told me I should try them, but I've heard mixed reviews. I didn't see any in the drawer, do you own any? Also, what's the best trunk to wear that keeps things in place but doesn't have seams? (can't seem to find a balance) Thanks!

Hello Andy thanks for reading and I appreciate the questions! As a matter of course I don’t review boxers so unfortunately I can’t offer much help for your question regarding silk boxers. A while ago another reader (Matt) asked about why I don’t review boxers and I gave my perspective there so if you’d like a more complete answer you can check out that discussion under Reader Comments and Questions 2nd Edition. As far as seamless trunks although I haven’t reviewed any on the site I do own the following seamless underwear: CK 365 Trunk, C9 by Champion Trunk and Jockey Seamless Trunk. Of those 3 I would go with the CK 365 seamless line as it seems to have the best balance between stretch and support in the material composition and the pseudo-pouch works better than the other two.

Great site very informative but I would like to see and easier search for underwear in categories and your reviews. So if you see a travel site like Expedia or a car site like Edmunds you can search for a hotel or car in categories and then even a star rating and you have a snippet of the commentary also. So you can rearrange your site where you can search for bikini's and have your list with your grade mark and comments and a viewer can click for a lengthy comment is so desired
