If you're ever looking for a more risque underwear item designed for men then N2N Bodywear will probably have something to fit the bill. From c-ring socks to mesh to this string you can choose items to wear that are nearly nothing. This string is designed as the most minimal coverage underwear you'll probably ever wear with just a small pouch kept in place with a tiny set of strings for the waist and up the backside. The brushed tactel line of underwear from N2N Bodywear has existed for several years and there's a good reason, it's amazingly soft and comfortable to wear with a very stretchable 92% nylon 8% lycra blend available in white, black, camel and scarlet red. Since there isn't really a waistband to attach any wash/care label the only tag to be found on this item is a very small 1/2" square size tag on the inner-right of the pouch. I bought this string in my usual medium but found the extremely flimsy elastic cord material cut a little too large and thus it was difficult to keep the item on and in-place for any appreciable amount of time. I'd say you could probably order a full size down and therefore have improved results with better tension on the elastic. The product description says the pouch is adjustable and technically it is with the top of the pouch allowed to slide narrow or wide on the string but any adjustment you make will quickly revert back to the default resting place as there is not enough tension to keep the fabric from sliding. The pouch itself is comfortable if not particularly supportive due to the looseness of the attachment to the string. In the back the strings are simply knotted which I suppose is functional although I would have preferred something a little more designed or constructed. Truthfully this seems mostly novelty to me as the pouch just simply doesn't stay in place given even the slightest of movement. I don't really think you could wear this under clothing so it's really just a "bedroom" or lounging kind of garment. Lest you think I'm opposed to the general concept of the string cut of underwear I should mention that I own an Intimo string/pouch which works much better in terms of design and fit.
The Grades:
Fit:
D
The fit isn't uncomfortable per se, it's just that you can't really depend on this item to stay in place very well. If I were up for it I'd probably try the small to see if the tighter elastic would help but at this point I'm not going to spend more money on a dubious cause.
Design:
C+
I realize the price point is rock-bottom so who am I to expect much design here but I would have been more than happy to pay more if the string attachment in the back were handled more elegantly or the overall design was a little more interesting. The colors are limited but nice, particularly the camel and scarlet options.
Material:
A+
I own some other Brushed Tactel underwear from N2N and the material can't be beat for comfort. The low overall score of this particular cut shouldn't turn you off from trying the other BT items in the offering.
Construction:
A
There's not much to construct here but the stitching is clean and the pattern evenly cut.
Overall Grade:
D+/C-
I do like N2N Bodywear underwear for the most part so I'm just going to say this particular cut just wasn't a winner for myself.
Would I buy another pair? No, as I mentioned there are better options from Intimo and others in the event you want to try out string underwear.
