Underwear Guy Review: C-In2 Tat-2 Low Rise Brief
Designer/Manufacturer: C-In2
Website: www.cin2.com
Price: $22.00

Thanks to a recent reader poll it was clear that several of you were interested in knowing more about the C-In2 Tat-2 Low Rise Brief so here's the review that won the majority of the votes. These low rise briefs were a recent addition to the C-In2 product family that added a little more graphic flair beyond the previously released colors and patterns of the standard line. There were several color and graphic combinations introduced with the first round of designs available in a trunk cut and this low-rise brief cut. The fabric and sewing patterns are totally new for C-In2 and are not based off of any previous releases. Common across all the garments is a solid color base with contrasting waistband, leg-band and pouch piping accents and a screened graphic on the backside which explains the "Tat-2/Tattoo" name. This particular item is the "Fire" brief in a dark red and bright orange color combination. I found the overall fit to be true-to-size with the mediums working out just fine for myself but do keep in mind this cut is intentionally form-fitting which means these are a snug fit. I don't personally think the design warrants sizing up for most guys but maybe if you are usually on the higher range of a size you might consider going up one level. The 1 1/4" waistband is fully covered with the 5% spandex 95% cotton fabric which is surprisingly soft. There is 1 1/2" C-In2 logo silk-screened on the right-front of the waistband in a metallic gray which is eye-catching against the bright color of the waistband. A C-In2 logo tag is sewn flat on the interior-back of the waistband which runs approximately 1 3/4" wide by 1" tall along with a couple of folded-over wash/care tags that are each 1/4" wide by 1" tall.

I found the slightly higher degree of stretch and increased softness in the material of this line to be noticeably different than the rest of C-In2's cotton products and I really liked how comfortable this material felt while wearing. The elastic on the waist and legs feels strong and relatively thick but is also flexible and makes these briefs easy to slip on and off. The contrast piping around the leg bands is fairly thick at 1/2" and the piping around the pouch is slightly thinner at 3/8". The back of the brief is full-coverage with the silk-screened graphic cleanly applied across the surface. The ink used for the screening process is stretchable and doesn't break-even while pulling the fabric apart fairly extremely-which makes me think the images will hold up fairly well over time. I think you'll have to expect some of the ink will eventually crack and wear off in washing but in general I was impressed with the apparent quality of the imprint. Not surprisingly, the ink does stiffen the fabric where it is applied but thankfully the fabric is fairly thick and on the inside you don't notice much difference in texture. Returning back to the front of the brief there is a double-layer pouch with a center seam that I felt was nicely designed with a good amount of shaping and lift while still being comfortable.

The Grades:
Fit: A I usually like C-In2's fit and these were another hit with the right cut on the waist and legs and a pouch that I felt matched the positive results of C-In2's other products. As mentioned in the main review, these are a form-fitting design that for most guys will probably work fine in your normal size but you wouldn't find a size-up option a bad idea if you like your underwear more relaxed. The pouch is not small but it is slightly on the snug side of average so those of you who like lots of extra room up front may have some issues with this brief. The upside of the pouch is that it does a good job of giving you some lift without anything extreme like a sling or pocket. Pouch Fit
Regular
Design: A+ There's an almost endless selection of colors and prints available so I'm pleased with all the choices here.
Material: A+

I *really* like this cotton blend, it's soft, stretchy and yet thick enough to feel durable and supportive.

Construction: A

The construction of these briefs was very good with high-quality seams, no loose threads and clean cuts of the fabric.

Overall Grade: A+

At least for myself, I was really pleased with this pair of underwear and I'm going with an A+.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, I will definitely buy more of these briefs especially with all the color and graphic combinations available.
