By reader request this review covers the new Tech Active Jockstrap from Calvin Klein. It seems like every year Calvin Klein discontinues one line of underwear and then subsequently replaces it with a very similar line with a new name the next year. Part of this is smart marketing to be able to reintroduce new lines on a regular basis but it's also a reflection of the need to continuously evolve product styles and fabrics. The Tech Active line is Calvin Klein's new athletic-oriented underwear line meant for active guys or for specific athletic activities. The Tech Active line is priced at a higher point than some of their other lines of underwear running $24 for this jockstrap and about equally more expensive for the other cuts which include a sport brief, low rise brief and a trunk. Your color options are fairly limited with just black and white available for the jockstrap although the other cuts do have a red option. The material is a special mesh fabric composed of 85% nylon and 15% elastane which feels surprisingly natural despite the synthetic blend. With the relatively high elastane content the material stretches quite well particularly on the vertical direction. The holes in the mesh are extremely fine and with the double-layer front you won't need to worry about the material being too revealing. The 1 1/2" tall waistband is a very soft microfiber with a sporty red accent stripe as well as classic Calvin Klein logo text repeated all the way around. I'm happy to see CK went with a logo and wash/care label that wasn't a tag which seems like a good idea for an athletic line. The information is printed on a stretchable plastic that is heat-fused onto the back of the waistband so everything is completely flat and mostly smooth. I still wish they could have found a way to make this information fit on a smaller area as the imprinted size is fairly large at 4 3/4" wide by 1 3/8" tall.

The leg straps are a strong and stretchable microfiber elastic and are a full 1" wide which I personally like since it helps make the jock more functional and durable as well as gives a classic look to the design. I would say the fit is true-to-size with the medium size fitting appropriately for the stated 32"-34" range. The front pouch is fairly large, certainly larger than the Pro Stretch jock so if you like a little extra room up front this seems like a good option. Because the jock is a bit larger in the pouch you don't get too much lift or shaping but you do get support so this is definetely a jockstrap that emphasizes function.

The Grades:

Fit:	A-/B+	Overall I would say the fit of this jockstrap is good. As mentioned in the main part of the review, don't expect any pouch "wonders" for profile definition but otherwise everything feels like it is being kept in place while wearing this jock and the straps fit well without digging in on your backside. Design:	B+	Since this is meant to be a functional jockstrap the design isn't particularly exciting but the red accent stripe is a nice touch and I really like the wide straps on the back. I think one additional color like red or blue might have been a nice option but otherwise I don't think it's fair to mark down the design category too much given that this is not a fashion jockstrap so I'm going with a positive B+.
Material:	A	I like the mesh fabric which is good for providing ventilation and cooling while running around or doing anything active.
Construction:	A	Not surprisingly the construction on this jockstrap is very good with very durable seams and clean edges on the pouch.
Overall Grade:	A-	I would say this is a solid jockstrap great for the gym or regular wearing but don't forget to check out other options as well if you like a little more design or lift in your underwear.
Would I buy another pair? Yes, I could see myself buying another jock from this line but ultimately I might try something with a little more fun like the C-In2 printed jockstraps.
