Toot Underwear is an exclusive high-end line of men's underwear designed and produced in Japan. Specializing in unique designs with interesting mixes of fabrics, patterns and colors, Toot Underwear has been copied all over the world by various labels including Undergear and Pulse Underwear. I have ordered more than a few items from Toot Underwear and thought it was overdue time that I highlight a product from their line. On the Toot website products are not given specific names but are referred to by cut and then by a cryptic style number. This squarecut style is available in a broad variety of colors and patterns but the general shape and fit is the same so you can use this review as a good guide for quite a few Toot items. Although the site calls this a "boxer" cut I'm referring to it as a squarecut. The style number for this squarecut is "CB718243" which of course isn't very descriptive. This version featured here is a brown and leopard print design but there is also a gray and blue leopard print available. The material is a very stretchable 92% cotton 8% spandex blend that is comfortable, light-weight yet also durable.

Toot Underwear runs a full size small so you must order up for the right fit. The rise of this squarecut is very low although not as low rise as N2N underwear. The elastic waistband on this design is substantial, measuring 1 3/4" tall and sporting tan and red racing stripes. The waistband is fairly basic with an interior that is unfortunately lacking any sort of facing for smoothness. Although that lack of texturizing or finsihing on the waistband is not uncomfortable to wear, it just could have been a little nicer. On the back-inside of the waistband you'll find a Toot logo tag that measures 1 3/8" wide by 1 3/4" tall that is sewn flat across the elastic seam. Attached at the base of the logo tag is another tag for the fabric and wash/care instructions which measures 1 1/4" wide by 1 1/4" tall. On the left-front of the squarecut you will also find a very small "Toot" tag sewn underneath the waistband which measures 5/8" wide by 1/4" tall.

The back of this squarecut is very nicely designed with a center seam that connects to the contrast leopard print panel. The design of the back of this squarecut is intended to be formfitting including a bit of a lift and define function. Luckily the back is engineered in a way so that it doesn't cause any noticeable "wedgie" problems despite the center seam. The legs of this cut are very short measuring just 5 3/4" on the sides not including the waistband. Interestingly enough the legs taper towards the base of the pouch with an inseam of about 1 3/4". The legs are finished with a 3/4" folded over material edge nicely sewn with contrasting red thread.

The front pouch is expertly designed with a snug fit but decent amount of room probably on-par with C-In2 or Mundo Unico. Surrounding the pouch is white contrast piping that has the effect of lifting things up which -combined with the cut- allows for a very shaping look. The pouch material is single-layer but the darker color prevents things from being overly revealing.

The Grades:
Fit: A Once you size up these squarecuts fit very nicely. Keep in mind these are intended to be form fitting which means they aren't necessarily tight but you'll need to be used to having the material close to your body in all areas. The pouch is expertly designed to provide good definition, lift and shape while still maintaining comfort for all-day wear. If you like more room and a more airy fit in the pouch these may not be the right style for you but otherwise I think it's a very good fit. Pouch Fit
Regular
Design: A+ Toot really wins in the design category, offering something unique and fun for men's underwear. The variety of colors and styles is excellent and the cut is functional while innovative at the same time.
Material: A

Although I'm not a fan of the elastic waistband the main cotton material is very good with a good degree of stretch that keeps things comfortable for all-day wear.

Construction: A+

Toot Underwear is always expertly manufactured with incredibly refined stitching on all the seams and amazingly clean fabric cuts.

Overall Grade: A

I have yet to be disappointed with my purchases from Toot Underwear and this squarecut was another winner. The combination of fit, design and quality is hard to beat.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, although slightly on the pricey side the variety of patterns and designs will keep me coming back for more.

Where To Buy:
Toot is not easy to find online and I have always ordered direct from their website at Pants-Ya.com. The individual product page for this style is here. There are a select number of retail stores that also carry Toot underwear listed on their website here.
