Calvin Klein Micro Modal Bikini Brief Review

Underwear Guy Review: Calvin Klein Micro Modal Bikini Brief
Designer/Manufacturer: Calvin Klein
Website: www.cku.com
Price: $20.00

Micro modal fabric is one of the best materials to come to the market in recent years and it is quickly being adopted by many underwear designers/manufacturers for its superior strength, finish and overall wearability. Calvin Klein has created a micro modal line of underwear available in boxer brief, trunk, brief and bikini brief cuts. The cuts are fairly standard CK fare and available (in most stores) in only white or black colors with a 90% micro modal and 10% lycra blend. The line is primarily based on the styles of the CK body line with some minor differences. This bikini sports classic lines and offers a 3/4" tall covered elastic waistband detailed with a subtle Calvin Klein woven logo in front that measures 1 1/2" wide by 1/2" tall. On the inside-back of the waistband you'll find the second logo tag and a requisite wash/care tag attached on the side with each one measuring roughly 1/2" tall by 3/4" wide. I purchased the brief from this line as well and I can now say that it would seem the CK Micro Modal line runs a full size large. I initially purchased this bikini in a medium and felt that it was a bit saggy and loose so I tried a second round in small and found it fit much better. The back of the cut is full coverage with the sides of this bikini narrowing to a minimal 1/2" (not including the waistband) with 1/4" covered elastic leg-bands. The micro modal fabric is very soft and extremely stretchable which makes for a very comfortable wearing experience through a wide range of daily activities. The weight of the fabric is very light so it is good for warmer weather although do keep in mind that despite a double-layer pouch, you'll experience some noticeable visible outlines in front due to the forming nature of the fabric. The pouch design is good at keeping things well supported and creating a good profile while not feeling too tight in any place. I'm listing the pouch as "roomy" although not necessarily because the cut is that much larger than CK's normal Body pouch design but because the micro modal fabric is so stretchable it gives anyone who needs it the extra room.

The Grades:
Fit: A I was pleased with the fit which was very comfortable and well-suited for all-day wear. The pouch is designed very nicely and those of you who like a classic bikini cut will not be disappointed. Pouch Fit
Regular
Design: B The designs is very classic and clean in its minimalism which makes for a good choice when you don't want over-stated underwear. In most stores you'll be limited to just black and white as far as color options but in some very rare cases you'll be lucky enough to find these in other variations including light blue and navy blue.
Material: A+

The micro modal fabric is amazingly soft and feels great on your body. The high degree of stretch is excellent while still maintaining a strength and shape retention.

Construction: A

CK is known for solid construction and I couldn't find any faults with the seams, threads or pattern cut on this bikini which were excellent all-around.

Overall Grade: A

This is a great bikini brief that will work for a wide range of guys looking for comfortable all-day underwear that's still reasonable affordable for micro modal.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, I wouldn't mind a few more pairs as we get into the summer months in my part of the globe where a briefer cut in a breathable soft fabric will be particularly nice.

Wear Recommendations:

Where To Buy:
There are a select number of online stores where you can buy the CK Micro Modal line not the least of which would be direct from the Calvin Klein store at CKU.com: Product Page. Other online retail options include: Macys.com: Product Page, FreshPair.com: Product Page, BareNecessities.com: Product Page and TopDrawers.com: Product Page. Most Macy's and Nordstrom stores will carry this line for in-store purchase as well.

I recently purchased a pair of these briefs in the Royal Blue color. The fit is a little loose, so you may need to buy a size smaller, depending where you are in the size range. The fabric is good for warm weather wear and the pouch if very form fitting, but comfortable. The fabric does a nice job of displaying your equipment. If you like a bikini brief, this is definitely one to try.

I finally picked up this pair of CK Bikinis just yesterday at Macys and I couldn't wait to get home to try them on. Needless to say I was not disappointed and I instantly fell in love with the look, feel, fit, everything. They felt so good that I couldn’t take them off and decided to slip on a matching CK Micro Modal T to wear to bed. I have worn the CK Micro Modal trunks for quite a while so I was familiar with the material and well it fits and feels but I am a low-rise, bikini, thong, sport bikini guy at heart and the CK Micro Modal bikini is an absolute must-have for any guy that needs a perfect everyday, every occasion, bikini brief in his collection. Back in the 80s I would have had at least 10 pair of Jockey Elance bikinis because that was about the only bikini option back then I will definitely have a few pair of these in my drawer ready for everyday use.

So, my only regret with these bikinis is not buying them sooner. I had looked at them online but wasn't all that impressed by the pictures of the fit models and they looked a bit higher rise than what I prefer. Plus, CK sizes always run big and buying online makes it a hassle to exchange if the size is all wrong. I read your review, and like so many others, you reiterated the need to size DOWN for this particular CK bikini. (Thanks!) So, I FINALLY saw them hanging on the rack at Macys yesterday and was able to inspect them in the store before purchasing. I compared the medium (HUGE) which is the size I am to the small which is the size I usually buy in CK items and the decision was clear. The Micro Modal material is very stretchy and slinky for lack of a better word and if you are on the slim side like myself (6-1, 168) then a medium in these would be as RickNAtlanta said "loose". The small fits me like a glove and because the material is so incredible the comfort is really unlike anything else. It does remind me of the N2N Tropic line which I also like a lot. I haven't worn Jockey products for over 10 years but they could only hope to make a bikini brief as good as this. The double-lined pouch and center seam design provides the perfect amount of support but once again the material is very accommodating.
