N2N Bodywear Waistband Sport Brief Review

Underwear Guy Review: N2N Bodywear Waistband Sport Brief

Designer/Manufacturer: N2N Bodywear

N2N Bodywear underwear products haven't typically included a classic, repeated logo-style exposed elastic waistband in their designs. The Velvet, Brushed Tactel, Tropic, Net and Raider lines for the most part all sported covered elastic waistbands. I believe there were only a few exceptions for exposed elastic waistbands including the Tropic cutaway sport bikini and some of the cotton line which were minimal, white, no-logo affairs. As a result of this past precedent it was a bit of a novelty to see N2N Bodywear's new Waistband Line with its contrast-color stitched microfiber logos make the product lineup for 2008. Not that I'm complaining mind you, I think pulling some inspiration from the classic and very functional exposed elastic waistband is a great move for N2N Bodywear as it helps compliment the rest of their products. There are several cuts available in the Waistband line including a squarecut, brief, sport brief (bikini), jock and thong. The Waistband line is available in 3 basic colors including black, charcoal (dark gray) and what I purchased which is white. There is some color included in the design with contrast 3/8" piping in a light blue on the sides of the pouch and the same color piping used to cover the elastic around the leg-bands.

The fabric is a 90% cotton 10% spandex blend which is decently stretchable but I did find the fabric to be quite thin on the weave so durability may be an open-ended question. On the upside, the thinner fabric does feel good for warm-weather or athletic wear as it breathes well given the minimal nature of the material. I found the sizing of the waistband line to be accurate with the medium working out well on myself. The signature waistband is a 1 1/4" woven microfiber material that has a lot of stretch and includes the words "N2N Bodywear" repeated all the way around. On the interior-back of the waistband is the N2N Bodywear logo tag which measures 1" wide by 1 1/8" tall and has an atached side-tag of the same size sewn on the right. The back is full coverage and you'll find that at least for this line, N2N Bodywear decided to not go wtih an extremely low-rise fit but a more functional rise that is still low-but not "crack" revealing. The front pouch of the underwear is a little less roomy than typical N2N underwear and seems to fall in the "normal" range. The design of the pouch definetely works well to push things up while keeping everything supported so you will likely find this a nicely enhancing pair of underwear. The pouch is single-layer material so keep in mind that you'll find these fairly revealing given the thinness of the base cotton fabric.

The Grades:
Fit: A I was pleased with the fit which was very comfortable and excellent for athletic activities. The rise is nicely low but still very functional and the pouch design is particularly well engineered for enhancement and support. Pouch Fit
Regular
Design: A I liked the splashes of color that were included with the blue piping. The additional design touch of the secondary piping elements on the sides of the pouch (which are non-functional) was also visually attractive.
Material: B+

I think the material could have been a bit softer to the touch and a little thicker overall as I do think these may wear out more quickly than some other underwear brands like CK, 2Xist, C-In2 or Emporio Armani. Still, it's a good fabric especially for warm weather-wearing.

Construction: A

I couldn't find any problems in the construction category with clean stitching, no loose threads and only some minor roughness on the fabric edges.

Overall Grade: A

I didn't have any set expectations from this line before I made my purchase decision but after wearing them I have found them to be a very solid pair of underwear at a reasonable price.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, the fit and "look" are good enough to warrant purchasing some more from this line. These are particularly versatile underwear items good for all-day-wear as well as several other activities.

I have the G (charcoal) and the Brief (White, Black, and Charcoal). I found the charcoal fabric to be the thickest, with the black and white about equal...although thin, very durable. The white I've had the longest and it has survived perfectly through several washings, so I would imagine it will last a while.

Like you, I found some roughness, but only on the white one, and after the first washing, the roughness went away.

I am normally a thong guy, primarily, but the brief has become my new favorite underwear! I like the G version of the waistband, but the brief just fits so nice.
