Underwear Guy Review: Good Men Wear X-Microjock
Designer/Manufacturer: Good Men Wear
Website: www.gmwear.com
Price: $25.00 - $37.00 price ranges depending on store

The 1 1/4" waistband/leg-bands are composed of a microfiber elastic with bold collegiate-style "Good Men Wear" logos repeated along the length of the material. In the back of the waistband you'll find the GMW logo tag which measures 1 1/2" wide by 1 1/4" tall. Attached to the right of the logo tag is a large wash/care tag which measures 1 3/4" wide by 1 1/4". The small pouch in front is composed of single-layer 95% cotton and 5% spandex which has a medium level of stretch and is a light-weight material. The front waist is very low-rise and the pouch is tight with not much room left in front. The pouch design is fairly basic with a center seam and covered 1/4" elastic on the sides. As mentioned the pouch is small and you won't find it provides much shaping or lift so there's some disappointment in the engineering department.
| The Grades: |
| Fit: | C+ | The overall waist and leg-band sizing works well once you size up, but the front pouch is very tight and as a consequence I don't feel like I should recommend this item very broadly. If you like a tight fit for sports activities this could be an upside. For fashion wearing you will want to carefully consider your required room up-front. | Pouch Fit |
| Design: | A | The waistband and leg-band cross style is fun and makes for an interesting look while the variety of color options is also an added plus resulting in a high score on design. | |
| Material: | A |
The microfiber waistbands are very high-quality and very comfortable. The main cotton material is thinner than I would like but it is soft and comfortable.
| Construction: | B+/A- |
For the most part the construction quality on this underwear item is good with clean seams and solid stitching. The edges of the fabric are a bit roughly cut with some visible frayed edges but this does not impact the fit or durability.
| Overall Grade: | C+/B- |
The design is fun and interesting so that helps up the overall score but the pouch is not going to work for everyone.
|
Would I buy another pair? The colors are fun enough that I could consider buying another pair but the fit really dampens my overall interest so I think I'll enjoy my single item but will probably skip picking up any other GMW X Jocks.

Like the design of this one. Unique! As many underwear coming out of Asia are. It is quite an unusual piece and would make a great addition to any underwear collection. I am not surprised you say the pouch is small. Originating in Asia (no offence to Asian men), I think it was designed with aspects of their physical make-up in mind, hence the small pouch. It is good to know that underwear manufacturers actually take the time to ensure their product is suited to the body type that is common is the region that they sell their wares! I like that because it means that if I happen to be in Asia, I will not buy Asian underwear because my body type is very different from that of an Asian. Heard recently that GinchGonch, the Canadian brand is also small in the pouch area - mmmm? - what does that say about the body types of our neighbors to the North?

Hey, I have a few pairs of GMW and I love they way they look. But, I've given up trying to buy more GMWs -- they are just too tight.
I don't think the problem is that this brand is designed for a different body type. I think that it is designed to suit a different preference in style and fit.
Japanese guys (big and small) who like this brand seem to like it because it is outrageously tight and low cut.
Also, I have many pairs of underwear from other Japanese makers, as well as from China and Malaysia, and the fit is perfect.

Does the pouch feel roomier if worn up instead of wearing it pointing downward? Many men find it uncomfortable to wear it pointing downward and many of the asian underwears are designed to be worn pointing upwards.

Hello AD,
Thanks for writing and posting a comment. As for the wearing direction, there really isn't enough room in the GMW Jock to point up, it's extremely low-rise and tight. The design is fun and daring but it's going to suit a much more narrow segment of the market given the body type and wearing requirements. That doesn't mean some guys might still like it regardless, and I did give it high points for style and design, just not fit.
Cheers,
Underwear Guy

I purchased this recently... and it's great.
And I'm by no means small where it matters. The GMW line is designed for guys like me who love wearing em low, and for the pouch to show it all off...
It's true that after a long day/ full day wear, they do become relatively uncomforable.
But I still own almost their whole range. So glad noone else in Australia really knows about it yet. I get good comments
