Underwear Guy Review: Joe Snyder Bulge Thong

Designer/Manufacturer: Joe Snyder
Website: www.joesnyder.com
Price: $20.00

I'm working to continue to add to the variety of reviews on the blog by with additional attention paid to thongs and jockstraps. This review covers a thong that has been on the market for some time which is the Joe Snyder Bulge thong. For a little more background detail on Joe Snyder underwear you can always read my previous review of the bulge boxer. Like most of Joe Snyder's underwear, the bulge thong is available in a very wide variety of colors including white, black, light blue, dark blue, red, dark red, neon green, electric blue, orange, yellow (this review), pinstripe as well as white and black mesh (should you decide to be more daring). The material of Joe Snyder's bulge line is a 80% nylon and 20% lycra blend that is smooth and soft to the touch with ample stretch. This thong is an extremely minimal cut with virtually no material coverage to spare so consider yourself warned. The fit is true to size with the labeled medium product working well for a standard North American range of 32"-34".

The waistband of this thong is minimal covered elastic that measures 1/4" tall for the top half with another 1/4" for the covered elastic running around the pouch and along the back strap leaving a 1/2" total height to the sides. I'm not a big fan of the paper tyvek-like tags attached to the interior-back of the thong since they are quite oversized and end up being wider than the actual strap at 1/8" wide by 1 1/2" tall. Of course you can always cut the tags out but I would have preferred a more elegant solution here than what was in the final product. The strap is 1 3/4" wide at the top of the waistband and narrows to 1/2" as you go further down. The single-layer pouch is revealing so keep that in mind when thinking about where you will be seen in this item. The bulge pouch design is definitely meant to push things out in front and provides some good shaping and lift while barely keeping everything covered. There is a small 1/2" JS logo applied to the front of the pouch which provides a little graphic detailing to an otherwise plain design. The pouch is fairly tight and snug so I wouldn't recommend this thong if you prefer a little more room.

The Grades:
Fit: B+ If you like a minimal cut with a fairly snug fit then this thong might fit the bill. The extra low-rise front and string sides allow for just the essentials in coverage. The front pouch is better than most thongs with ample lift provided by the pattern shape. Those of you who prefer or need a little more room in a pouch should probably skip this thong since it's not the roomiest design. Pouch Fit
Snug
Design: B- The broad selection of colors as well as the mesh options are a nice change of pace from the typical limitations of white and black. The JS logo element on the front pouch could be a higher quality as it tends to look more like a sticker than a truly authentic detailing element. As mentioned in the review, the tags in back are poorly designed and really bring this category's score down.
Material: B

The material is suitable for wearing through an all-day wearing session although I would not say it breathes very well so warmer conditions or more athletic activities aren't necessarily recommended uses for this thong.

Construction: A

The seams were very clean with nice attention to detail on the stitching and no loose threads. The edges of the fabric were cut cleanly without any evidence of roughness or jagged surfaces.

Overall Grade: B

This is a solid entry in the men's thong category with good engineering and some fun colors to choose from. I'm not sure I would say it's the best thong in the world with some design mark-downs but it's comfortable enough to be a worthwhile purchase.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, if I were on the market for another thong that had some color and better than average pouch design I would look at acquiring another Joe Snyder bulge thong.

These look very beautiful and very sexy. Unfortunately I cannot order these as I live in Thailand and nothing like this would ever get to me with all the corruption here. But they look so sleek and comfortable, and I know my partner would get an instant erection and want some actoin if I walked in front of him ike this. This model is gorgeous and shows them off so well, without being erect.

I'm glad to read this review. I'm almost certainly going to buy one of these thongs now. Oh-- and the model looks terrific! Thanks!

I love the look of these thongs. Do you really think they would be too small for someone who needs extra room? Dang!

I personally find myself falling out of underwear like the Gregg Homme Basixx Pouch (http://www.freshpair.com/Gregg-Homme-Basixx-Pouch-55514.html) .

    Thanks!

    Dear Reyes
Don't worry about the pouch size. I* agree with you that some of them are small, but I buy XL which can house all my equipment, and I can reduce the waist size if necessary.

My bf never complains and I love to feel both his hands round the pouch.....then it does get a bit small as things start to grow in anticipation

Great thong, material is very comfortable looks very good on. The size S pouch is a bit small for me but my waist is around 28-29inchs will try medium next time and prob take in the waist band. But otherwise a great product if you want to go Uber tight. I see what you mean about not being sensible for office wear if you wear trousers for work might make it look like ur walking round with a semi all day! that said, i wear jeans so can get away with that..just!

I agree with kook's comments, but I have no problem walking round in ordinary work trousers. If people look at my 'bulge', I just smile at them. Sometimes, if it is a nice-looking guy who is looking at my bulge, then I smile the same and perhaps lift up my eyebrows quizzically !!!! (I am a naughty boy!!)

I found these a little too small. I purchased several Joe Snyder "capris" which have a slightly wider back and no "lift" in the front. They are very comfortable and well made. I highly recommend them.

I've got a small white bulge thong that fits me like a glove. I'm slender, tanned and look tough as nails in! Wow, me! lol It fits PERFECT and follows every ridge and contour of me! ; ) An exhibitionists dream. I'll be wearing it in Miami for sure the week after next at South Beach along with a number of different Joe Snyder bulge thongs and Joe Snyder bikinis in a variety of colors. I LOVE both styles!

At the moment I have a black bulge bikini on and they're killer too.

The Electric Blue bulge bikini looks and feels fantastic on me! The "up and out" design is awesome! It's very revealing and takes "showing it" to a another level. I've ordered five more (different colors)and will never wear anything else at the beach or in and around the pool again. These are SMOKING HOT and I can hardly wait to be looked at in them. ; )

On Wednesday I was visiting South Beach in Miami and went for it. I found a padded lounge chair with a pad on it under an umbrella on the beach and went for it. I took off my cover up shorts and laid there in a smoking hot red Joe Snyder bulge bikini on my back for about an hour. What a kick! After the first few minutes a saw three chicks riveted on me out of the corner of my eye. After a few seconds they dove for their digital camera's and cell phones and were taking pics like no tomorrow. lol I saw another chick videoing me. I hope that ends up on You Tube! LOL And that's just what I happened to see, I'm sure there was much more that I didn't see! ; ) I've broken the ice and there's no going back. Cozumel or Playa del Carmen in Mexico is next. ; ) The bikini creates the illusion of being less revealing (but isn't really! lol) than the thong and fits better generally in my opinion. The Brazilian back looks HOT too.

When I first came across this thong I thought it was a "must have" item and I now have several in various colors. I love the minimalist design and the fit is fantastic in my regular medium size. However I did find the pouch size was noticeably smaller on the red and wine colored examples I bought, while the other colors were fine. This thong is fine to wear all day and I have done so on several occasions. I too find the tags a little large and they tend to stick out, so I will most likely remove them. However they are best left where they are, as I really don't like them sewn into the side of the pouch as I have seen with one or two other brands. The JS logo will come off after a few washes, not that it really matters. If you think less is more. then this is the thong for you.
