For summer 2009 N2N Bodywear is rolling out a wide range of new underwear and swimwear as well as updating some existing lines and retiring others. The Tropic line from N2N Bodywear was discontinued and effectively replaced with the new Mojave line as part of the seasonal update. The original Tropic thong earned solid grades so I thought it would be worth checking out its successor. The fabric blend for the Mojave line is identical to the original Tropic line with 60% polyester, 32% rayon and 8% spandex. The fabric is thin, very stretchy and smooth to the touch which makes for a comfortable wearing experience for a variety activities. The current colors for the Mojave line include gray, olive and what I purchased for the thong: rust. The most obvious difference between the Tropic line and the Mojave line besides the colors and fabric is the new very wide microfiber elastic waistband. The waistband is taller than any previous N2N Bodywear design measuring 1 1/2" with 3/4" black N2N Bodywear text repeated all the way around. The waistband is fairly snug with a fairly strong amount of tension on the elastic and I might have preferred just a bit more "give" in the stretch. Despite the tighter waistband I would say the Mojave line runs true-to-size with the mediums I ordered seeming to accommodate the official 30" - 34" waist.

On the interior-back of the waistband over the center seam you'll find the fabric N2N logo patch measuring 1 1/8" square. Attached to the right of the logo patch you'll find a fabric tab measuring 1" wide by 1 1/8" tall that includes all the size, fabric and wash/care information. The cut of this thong is a classic design that includes a 7/8" strip of fabric running below the waistband from the front pouch all the way around to the 1 1/4" wide strap in back. The strap narrows from a width of about 4" at the top of the back and is comfortable to wear throughout the day. All edges of the fabric are reinforced with 3/8" thick covered elastic which helps to keep everything secure preventing shifting as well as gaping on the sides of the pouch. The front pouch is still aggressively designed not unlike the Tropic line. You'll find the N2N Mojave pouch design is good at lifting and providing shape and definition with a curved center seam design and elastic running around the edges to help provide extra support. The fabic is single-layer in front which creates some noticeable outlines that are probably a bit extreme for the modest-minded. There's a little more room accommodated in the pouch design than typical men's underwear-especially with the extra stretch allowed by the fabric.

The Grades:
Fit: A- The overall fit of this thong is good with a nice low-rise on the waist and a secure yet flexible fit that lends versatility to the garment. Keep in mind the waistband is a bit on the snug side when you make your purchase decision. Pouch Fit
Regular
Design: A The graphic waistband is a nice update to the original thong design lending a more masculine appeal to the visual composition. The classic thong styling looks modern and sleek. The variety of muted colors allow for some fun choices without getting too wild.
Material: A+

I liked the original Tropic line fabric blend and considering this is the same fabric I'm carrying over the positive score from before.

Construction: B+/A-

Overall the construction is good with straight stitching and no loose threads. I couldn't help but notice some very rough edges on the fabric cuts at the waistband seam but this doesn't impact the durability of the thong so I'm going with a split score where the B+ would be relevant if you don't like the somewhat haphazard edges of the fabric and and A- if that's not a big deal for you personally.

Overall Grade: A-

This is a solid thong design providing a significant update to the N2N Bodywear product line and providing fans a reason to update their drawers.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, this thong is available at a reasonable price, the fit is good and the color variety gives one the choice to mix things up a bit.

I got this thong at a locval retailer. It is great. Thanks for your on target reviews. Keep up the great work. Will you take a look at Prevail Sport's offerings, especially the lace briefs?

Bought this thong directly from N2N in rust & gray colors. Fantastic fit! Your review convinced me to try this one, and I am glad I did. I looked at the finish on the two I ordered and the cuts around the waist band were very straight and even with no loose threads or stitching. I actually like the feel of the stronger tension in the waist band; I think it contributes to the overall lift the garment provides. Looking forward to more reviews.
