Pulse Underwear has evolved as an underwear label over time from its initial launch with a modest line of sheer underwear and squarecuts to an explosion of fabrics and cuts in 2007 and then a subsequent consolidation of lines in 2009. Through boom times and more modest times Pulse Underwear has always offered interesting fabric options and their brand new Sock Jock line doesn’t disappoint. These jocks are made from the exact same material as classic gym socks which might seem a little unusual but you'd be surprised how effective the fabric ends up being as underwear. The weave of the material is like a mesh which works great for keeping things cool and breathable for a sports jock. There are a variety of color options available, all in stripe patterns just like old-school tube socks including different variations of black, gray, turquoise, red, green, blue and yellow stripes alternating with white. There are two versions of this jock one with traditional back-straps and one that is literally a sock with no straps and I believe a c-ring but I haven’t been able to confirm that in-person. Some retailers are including the matching socks and sweatband but I have yet to see any that support the whole set for online ordering unfortunately.
Except for the black stripe version which has coordinating black elastic, the waistband and straps are white with both elements made from the same elastic material. The inside of the elastic has a soft brushed finish which keeps things comfortable for all-day wear although it‘s still a little older-school in design reminding me of elastic material used for underwear about 3 years ago (this might be a plus for some). Sizing for Pulse underwear generally runs true-to-size and this jock was pretty much in that range with maybe just a hair bit of snugness on the elastic waist. The Pulse logo patch is heat-sealed flat to the interior-back of the waistband across the seam and measures 2 1/2" wide by 7/8" tall. The straps measure just a hair under 1" wide and are cut to provide a good amount of tension on the pouch to limit unsightly gaps around the edges. The pouch on this jock has a substantially reinforced edge around it which is fully covered elastic that cups around your package and helps to keep things lifted and nicely shaped. There’s enough room to prevent you from feeling in any way confined and the material stretches enough to accommodate a little more room if you need it.
This jock is surprisingly comfortable and easy to wear all-day with a nice level of lift and shaping without being too tight or constricting for regular athletic activities.
Pouch Fit
Design:
A
The design is a lot of fun and particularly great if you are able to get the matching socks. I like the variety of color stripe combinations which add some extra options for purchasing. The only area that feels a little lacking here is the waistband which is a little basic in the design and material.
Material:
A
The complex blend combined with the weave of the fabric results in a comfortable and functional fabric that works well for at-home and athletic activities.
Construction:
A
Pulse underwear is usually pretty good on the construction scores and this jock hits all the marks well with straight stitching, no loose threads and a cleanly finished edge where the pouch joins the waistband.
Overall Grade:
A
Overall I'd say this is a solid jock that manages to bring something unique to the market without being a novelty. This is a functional jockstrap that works for a variety of activities and truly crosses over several categories in my opinion.
Would I buy another pair? Yes, I would definitely consider buying another pair of the Pulse Sock Jock especially if it included the full set with socks and sweatband.

Where To Buy:
This is a specialty item that is available in select retail stores including UnderU4men.com (phone orders available) and InJeanious Lounge as well as a couple of online stores including Erogenos.com: Product Page and DealByEthan.com: Product Page.

Hey, it has been a while. I have been avoiding your site as I try to control my obsession with purchasing underwear. But I must say I like how you have developed the site.
