2009 has officially ended and if there's one major trend that surfaced over the year to note it's the emergence of mesh and net underwear for men. Mesh and net underwear had been around for a while, but as far as the men's wear market was concerned, it was relegated to "lingerie" and not considered mainstream. AussieBum burst out with multiple mesh-net underwear designs in 2009 and then Andrew Christian followed up with a whole range of risque and bold designs that incorporated extreme net fabric as well as mesh. To clarify, I consider mesh fabric to be a fine-holed fabric that is still opaque with a gauze-like see-through look. Net fabric is different in that it's a synthetic weave of fabric with very large holes of a 1/16" to even 1/8" wide throughout. Both AussieBum and Andrew Christian went bold with net fabric options that are very revealing. This jock is called the Super Mesh Jockstrap and is available in the basic options of black or white net. The fabric has very large holes to make the net finish measuring 3/16" across. There is absolutely no stretch to the body material which makes the fit of this jock much more hit or miss than you might normally get from a standard stretch fabric. The straps on this jock measure 7/8" across and unlike the body, are very smooth with a lot of stretch and flexibility making for a comfortable fit on the back and reducing unsightly "dig-in" on your backside. There is a subtle repeating pattern of Andrew Christian text logos running the length of the strap elastic in tone-on-tone white. The 1 3/4" wide by 1" tall red logo patch on the interior-back of the waistband is a nice, smooth material while the wash/care tag is a lower-rent paper tag measuring 1 1/4" wide by 1" tall.
Like most of Andrew Christian's underwear these days, this jock incorporates the Show-It 2.0 package enhancer pocket which is similar to the AussieBum wonderjock design although unique in its own right. If you're looking for a large-pouch jock this might be a good choice as this pouch has ample up-front room, cut quite generously. The Show-It mechanism isn't quite as lifting as some other designs (somewhat subjective to your anatomy) but it definitely adds visual contouring to your profile. The edges of the jock pouch are accented with 1/2" fabric-covered elastic which is soft and comfortable for all-day wear.

The waistband and leg-straps are high-points on this jock with a very comfortable cut that is highly flexible and flattering while wearing. As for the pouch, I would say the fabric makes for some serious design challenges as the lack of stretch means you can get into trouble sizing things too small and thus end up with a tight pouch. As a result it would seem the design errs on the side of caution and ends up with a super-sized pouch. I compared the fabric dimensions of this jock with the Core C-In2 thong and found the overall material on the AC jock to be close to 2X the size. If you need a *lot* of extra room up front then this could be a great jock for you, otherwise I think it doesn't satisfy for the broadest audience.
Pouch Fit

I would have liked some additional color options but otherwise the design is very sporty with bold contrast graphics and masculine lines.
Material:
C+
This is not comfortable fabric to wear for extended periods of time as it is fairly rough on your skin. The lack of stretch can also make it uncomfortable for adjustments throughout the day.
Construction:
A+
The construction of Andrew Christian underwear has really improved over time and this jock is expertly sewn with straight lines and no loose threads. The fabric edges are very clean and finished nicely.
Overall Grade:
C+
I didn't really love this jock all that much. It's a fun novelty item if it would fit better in the pouch and yes, I realize it's subjective sometimes with pouch fit but for myself it wasn't very comfortable due to the texture and the overall fit didn't flatter to boot.
Would I buy another pair? No, I'm glad to have tried these out but there needs to be some re-engineering and material work to make this a second-item purchase for me.
