Underwear Guy Review: DMK Designs Apollo Bikini Brief

It's no secret that I'm a fairly big fan of DMK Designs underwear. I've found the colors, fabrics and designs to be a nice changeup in the men's underwear landscape that brings something unique, fun and sexy for guys to wear. After starting with some fuller-cut trunk designs, designer Diane Kirkland has started to move into more risque and daring cuts and patterns including several thongs, jocks and bikini briefs. This Apollo Bikini Brief is one of the newer entries from DMK Designs and it definitely brings some flair and fun along with it. One of the signature design elements of DMK Designs underwear is the "pieced" construction which allows for panels of different fabrics to contrast against each other. In the case of this brief, there is a main body composed of a stretch black fabric contrasted against an animal print pouch in front. You can choose between Giraffe, Tiger or Camo (Undergear exclusive) prints for the front pouch (all with the same black on the sides and back. The fabric is smooth the touch with a nice amount of stretch to it allowing for good freedom of movement. The printed patterns are produced via dye-sublimation process yielding a permanent image embedded in the material that won't crack or peel and doesn't alter the finish or texture.

This is a classic bikini brief cut with a low rise, very slim sides and a fully-covered waistband. The back is shy of full-coverage with a slightly slimmer cut than you might traditionally find on a bikini brief but definitely not a rio or brazilian back. The leg-bands are made of fully-covered 3/8" elastic and are thankfully not too tight or binding. As mentioned earlier, the pouch is a panel design with a larger than average curvature that leaves a little more room in front than the traditional DMK underwear design. I am categorizing the pouch as "roomy" although it's really somewhere inbetween "regular" and "roomy". The pouch design is good at accentuating your shape -although perhaps a little more lift would have been even better.

The Grades:
Fit: A Another excellent fitted underwear item from DMK that successfully all the male curves and shapes in place and nicely formed. The high-cut sides and full-coverage back give you a nice look that is classic "bikini brief" styling and also make for an easy-to-wear all-day underwear item. The extra room in front is great for guys who might like a little more "breathing" room. Pouch Fit
Roomy
Design: A+ I'm happy yet again with a design that is unique, dares to be sexy and still has a clean, masculine look. The black color keeps the more "wild" pattern in check and the options of the tiger print and giraffe keep things interesting.
Material: A-

This isn't the most breathable fabric, it's basically swimsuit material, but it feels good for most wearing conditions around the house-even for extended periods of time. I wouldn't suggest this item for athletic purposes but I doubt that was the original designer's intent so I'm not knocking it down for that.

Construction: A

The construction on this brief was very good with clean seams, no loose threads and even pattern cuts on the pouch.

Overall Grade: A

This is a fairly simple but effectively designed bikini brief, with an eye-catching design that fits nicely and wears well.

Would I buy another pair? Yes, I would consider buying another Apollo brief as the print options are fun and it's an interesting line of underwear to add variety to anyone's collection.
