EXPOSED ELASTIC WAISTBAND
Exposed elastic waistbands used to be the standard method for design and manufacture of men’s underwear garments. Once microfiber materials became widely available and utilized in underwear construction we’ve seen a major decline in underwear that still employs the veteran, or otherwise referred to as “classic” elastic waistband.
Most commonly you’ll find old-school elastic waistbands on full-rise briefs and they are still easily foun on jockstraps. One of the major limitations of the original elastic waistbands is that complex colors, patterns and designs are tougher to apply. Despite the manufacturing limitations, elastic waistbands can still sport almost any color and strips and woven logos/letters are common.
Pros: Strong functionality, classic design style, durable can help reduce the cost of the underwear.
Cons: Not as comfortable as newer microfiber designs and fewer style options available.
