As part of my mission to blow out Halloween 2014's underwear costumes I thought it would be fun to source an idea from a video game. My inspiration came from the popular Assassin's Creed line of games which has garnered quite a following and popular support throughout its many incarnations. There have been several short films created to support the franchise and a full theatrical production is currently in the works.

In my character and media research I found that one of the more iconic looks from the video game was from the sequel Assassin's Creed II which is set in Renaissance Italy in the 15th century.

When I evaluate the potential for creating a new costume I always research what the available off-the-shelf elements can be readily purchased which greatly accelerates the time it takes to create a look. Luckily given the popularity of the games there were several options available including a fairly comprehensive head-to-toe costume produced by Leg Avenue.

I modified the base costume elements to tailor them down significantly but luckily beyond that effort very little other changes were necessary. Probably my more problematic work involved finding a reasonably priced boot option. The boots as depicted in the character artwork are not easy to replicate with any easy off-the-shelf options and after spending a lot of time looking for either full shoe options or suitable boot cover costume elements I reluctantly went with the closest approximation which was a pirate theme boot cover costume accessory. The color was black and obviously that necessitated re-coloring them to the more accurate brown.

For the underwear I had known from the start that I was going to use the Jack Adams USA Football Lace-up Jockstrap which felt like a perfect fit with the necessary white and red color scheme as well as the lace details.
