SUMMARY

PRODUCT INFORMATION:

Suggested retail price: $20.00
Line Name: Air
Available Sizes: S->XL

Of the many men's underwear brands available today I'd say N2N Bodywear does a one of the better jobs at offering a full range of styles and designs to cover a man from morning to night across all variety of activities. Between the various offerings of swimwear, athletic gear, gym wear, fetish wear, underwear and loungewear, you'll always find something from N2N Bodywear to suit your mood or needs. The N2N Air Bikini (Sport Brief) comes from the Air range and fills that often ignored gap of men's lounge-underwear.

TOP FAVORITE ASPECT

Although perhaps not as durable as some might like I personally really like the fabric of this brief as it's incredibly soft and comfortable while also offering a hint of an erotic touch given the thinness of the material.

LEAST FAVORITE ASPECT

Considering the premium price point I think the lack of attention to detail on the construction is bothersome and is the one area of this brief that did not receive a high score.

MATERIAL

The Air line gets its name thanks to the "lighter than air" fabric which is a blend of 95% rayon and 5% spandex. Note that there is some confusion about the actual composition of this material since the official N2N Bodywear website sates that this is a 60% polyester, 32% rayon 8% spandex blend. I'm going with the label information on the actual garment since that should be the most accurate. The material is true to its namesake and is extremely thin and light-weight. The synthetic blend is soft and smooth to the touch and feels very natural despite not having any organic fibers in the content. The thinness of the fabric combined with the spandex lends a high degree of stretch that nevertheless keeps its shape well.

Originally the Air Line was available in an extended range of colors including white, black, gray, navy and ivory. The navy and cream have been officially discontinued but you may still find them in some stores. The color versions of the material is very even, with good intensity while the white is a very nice bright white.

Features of this fabric worth calling out include the high stretch performance and breatheability which helps make this a great loungewear material as well as summer underwear for warmer temperatures.

FIT

Like almost all other N2N Bodywear items I found the overall sizing of the Air line to be true to standard North American ranges with my usual medium working out nicely. The thin microfiber waistband provides plenty of stretch and accommodates a pretty wide range of sizes while still maintaining a reliable and secure fit. Because this is a sport brief it's not surprising there was very little fit issue when it came to the leg-bands since there's very little to restrict your movement with the open sides. The leg-bands are reinforced with 3/8" thin elastic which provides just enough tension to keep things from riding into unwanted territory while still maintaining a very relaxed and almost-nothing feeling.

The front pouch is a simple single-fabric layer design with a counter seam at the base to provide some additional shape. The thin, stretchable fabric and the overall cut of the pouch allows for some significant room but thanks to the overall design of the brief guys who don't necessarily make for a huge impression up front won't feel like they are swimming in an oversized pair of underwear either. Because of the deep pouch style and the very relaxed fabric you won't necessarily find that these are the most enhancing pair of underwear but I don't think that's the main emphasis of this line and thus I don't see it as a negative.

DESIGN & STYLE

Generally speaking I personally prefer more minimalist cuts for loungewear or anything not work or sports related and so I'm a big fan of this sport brief design and cut which is very sleek and simple while still looking modern and upscale.

The color palette offerings are purposefully limited and sedate with the current options being limited to masculine white, gray and black. As mentioned the nature of the fabric is very thin and as a consequence it's very revealing of outlines and even skin tones in some cases so this works as an erotic loungewear of underwear. For those of you feeling particularly adventurous you can of course wear this underwear item in other situations outside of the house but keep in mind you will definitely be showing the outlines of your genitals quite noticeably. As mentioned in the intro and material sections of this review I have categorized this brief as loungewear and sleepwear for which I'd highly recommend it. You can of course wear the Air Sport Brief for other activities but I don't think it provides the necessary support for athletic activities and it's not the most durable for all-day every day wear.

The thin 3/4" tall microfiber waistband provides the majority of the design elements for this sport brief with an eye-catching black and white graphic scheme made up of bold contrast stripes and simple N2N logos repeated all the way around.

The size and wash/care label is thankfully scaled down to match the lower profile waistband with just a small 1 1/4" X 3/4" tag that covers the basics and no more. The tag is fabric and thankfully keeps itself completely unnoticeable to me while wearing the garment.

At the $20 per pair price point this brief falls within the "Premium" range for men's underwear these days. Typical sport brief prices for higher-end designer labels run around $15-$25 so you are paying pretty much down the middle of the line on this item.

CONSTRUCTION & CARE

Given the premium price point as noted above under the "Value" section of the review you should expect fairly good durability and construction qualities from the Air Sport Brief Bikini. I own several pairs of the Air line and despite what might feel like a more fragile item they have survived regular wash and wear cycles in my laundry machines without much degradation. Technically you should take some extra care with these items since they are more delicate than other "all-day wear" underwear made of thicker cotton blends. I've only taken moderate measures when taking care of my Air underwear e.g. no harsh detergents and the lower agitation setting on my washer and they've held up well so I'm going with an "average" rating on durability.

For construction I would expect in a premium level of underwear even, straight stitching, clean edges on the fabric and no bad overlaps of material. In the case of the Air Sport Brief I have to say I found quite a few callouts that didn't hit the mark for my expectations of construction quality. The edges of the fabric were cut very haphazardly with extensive variations in excessive fabric or not enough to the point that not all the fabric was getting coverage by the stitching. In a couple areas the fabric was also messily "bunched" under the stitching which felt like something I'd expect from a much lower-quality brand.

The construction issues could have really brought this overall score down significantly but thanks to the reasonable durability that I've experienced I'm settling on a somewhat generous "B-" final score.
